Furniture - Sofas & Tables
40A Victorian button-upholstered chesterfield sofa. (78in) - This was restored by the current vendors about 15 years ago. It is a button upholstered and pleated back sofa with a sprung seat above a cushion-padded apron, raised on later turned bun feet. The current vendor has had it completely restored. : £100-150 (Furniture - Sofas)
10A Victorian walnut telescopic dining table. (95.75in x 47.75in x 29.75in) - This is a good solid table with a rectangular rounded top with telescopic action, complete with handle. It has two spare leaves and the table looks to be in its original finish and has good colour. There is slight fading and it is slightly marked and has white bloom in two or three places. The table has a reeded edge supported on bulbous turned and fluted column legs with brass cappings and pot casters. A good solid table that came out of an old mill in Northumberland. : £400-600 (Furniture - Tables)
47A square mahogany occasional table. (26in x 26in x 28.75in) - This has a square scalloped top with rounded corners, and is supported on sabre legs with acanthus carving to knees. The legs are joined by a conforming square platform stretcher with shaped stretchers joining the legs. The table is similarly scalloped and carved. A good table, although the top has some scratches on it. It has possibly been refinished at some stage. : £30-40 (Furniture - Tables)
54A late nineteenth century mahogany Pembroke table. (28.25in x 85.75in x 32.75in) - This is a pretty mahogany Pembroke table that came out of a Northumberland vicarage. It has a rectangular top with two drop flaps and reeded edge supported on ring turned tapering legs with original brass cappings and casters. It has a frieze drawer at one end. The table is very much “barn fresh”, with signs of old repair. The two drop flaps are supported on hinged brackets with knuckle joints which show some signs of repairs. The drawer is oak lined and the ring turned tapering legs show old nineteenth century repairs. A good honest table with the original hinges to the top. It just needs cleaning up and refinishing. There are excellent little casters to the table, but the drawer front has possibly been made up? The knobs are across to the sides. : £200-300 (Furniture - Tables)
79A reproduction carved mahogany hall table. (39.25in x 19.75in x 29.75in) - A quality lump of furniture and very decorative. : £300-500 (Furniture - Tables)
109A Victorian carved oak telescopic dining table with later leaves and folding supports. (62in x 45in x 27.75in) - This dining table has a rectangular moulded top with telescopic action and two later leaves. It is supported on columns with rectangular scrolled and carved stretchers centering on an urn finial with leaf carved support. The table is on casters. The expansion mechanism to take leaves has later supports that look as if they are French. It is a bit wobbly, but basically a sound Victorian dining table. : £200-300 (Furniture - Tables)
148A reproduction carved wine table. (23.75in x 30.25in) - A reproduction circular mahogany carved wine table supported on a turned column with scrolled carving to baluster, raised on tripartite legs and pad feet carved with further decoration. A good solid table. (23.75in x 30.25in) : £80-120 (Furniture - Tables)
178A George IV mahogany side table. (35.25 x 19in x 28.5in) - This has been severely ‘restored’ by someone historically, as the patination has all been scraped off and it has been refinished. The top is marked and the frieze has bits of veneer missing. The top has rounded shallow frieze. It is supported on a baluster turned column with platform waisted base raised on turned bun feet. The veneers on the waisted base seem perfect, but it has completely lost its patina and has no colour. : £60-80 (Furniture - Tables)
190A Victorian mahogany turnover top tea table. (37in x 18.25in x 29.75in) - This has a twin flap top above a shaped apron with mahogany flame veneers supported on tapering legs. A good nineteenth century turnover top table. The interior is a lovely colour, but the top is a bit faded. The table revolves around a well and is a good solid untouched original honest piece. : £200-300 (Furniture - Tables)
191A reproduction hardwood refectory table. (36.25in x 72.25in x 30in) - This is a reproduction table with a heavy cleated top. The top is inset with various square blocks to strengthen it. It could be made out of recycled wood. It is supported on a grey painted base with two square moulded columns at either end on splayed sledge supports joined by a plain rectangular stretcher. It is a sturdy table and the top lifts off the base and fits into the panelled ends, with sliding wedges, a good chunky piece of furniture. : £200-300 (Furniture - Tables)
200An art deco formerly extending oak dining table. (61.75in x 35.75in x 28in) - An art deco oak dining table, the rectangular top cross and moulded ends drawing to take leaves (the leaves absent), supported on rounded stylised columns and platforms, with splayed legs joined by rectangular platform stretcher. It has unusual confirmation of the base, quite stylish, and a good top. A good piece of art deco. : £80-120 (Furniture - Tables)
207A Victorian mahogany dining table. (48.5in x 53in x 28.75in) - This has an unusual oval top with rounded frieze supported on bulbous turned tapering legs with original cappings and pot casters. This shows signs that it was telescopic at some stage, but is of good general colour, and is a substantial table with beads on the longer sides covering the joins where possibly at one stage it expanded. A good solid piece of Victorian mahogany. : £300-500 (Furniture - Tables)
263An ebonised aesthetic Victorian side table. (18.5in x 16.5in x 26.25in) - This piece is stained and fairly distressed, but it is in the aesthetic taste. There are slight traces of woodworm to the top. It sits on ring-turned column legs with traces of gilding to the rings. The stretchers are similarly made of ring-turned columns, having central rectangular chamferred batons with grooves in the sides, possibly to take an upright decorative panel? It stands on baluster turned legs with small bun feet - no signs of casters. : £30-40 (Furniture - Tables)
285A late nineteenth century octagonal occasional table. (32in x 25.5in) - This "threepenny bit" table has been refinished. It has an octagonal moulded top supported on plain frieze with ring turned tapering legs joined by rectangular stretchers. At some stage it has been revarnished and possibly reduced in height. : £30-40 (Furniture - Tables)
359An early nineteenth century mahogany turnover top card table. (35.25in x 18in x 28.75in) - This is a good table, but it has been restored at some stage. The twin top has rounded corners with a bead moulded quarter edge, revealing an interior with later baize lining. It swivels above an open well for counters, etc. The frieze has an applied baluster moulding with tapering ends. It is supported on a turned tapering column with moulded collar above quadripartite base with similar applied quarter round mouldings to the corners. The waisted platform is supported on scroll carved feet, with casters. The condition is very good but the top has been cracked in the central heating, as noticed by the current vendor. Otherwise a good flame colour of excellent quality. : £300-500 (Furniture - Tables)
360An oak tray top card table. - This tray top trolley is on square column legs with brass casters. It is 25in x 16in x 29.5in when folded down. There is a lever in the rail, that allows the top to revolve and split in two halves, with baize lining. A good piece of George VI oak furniture circa 1940. : £30-40 (Furniture - Tables)
367A walnut Edwardian scalloped top occasional table. (28.5in x 29in x 30.25in) - This is a good solid walnut table with a circular scalloped top and four sabre legs united by shaped carved stretchers. Underneath the scalloped top there is an octagonal moulded platform. It still has the original finish, with slight wear. : £80-120 (Furniture - Tables)
379An Edwardian square mahogany occasional table. (20in x 20in x 28.75in) - This is a plain table with mahogany top inlaid with boxwood stringing. It is supported on square tapering legs, all strung with boxwood. The undertier stretcher is waisted and again inlaid with boxwood stringing. The condition is original but needs repolishing as it is scruffed and crazed. : £40-60 (Furniture - Tables)
382A nineteenth century European walnut side table. (24in x 18in x 28.5in) - A nineteenth century European walnut side table, the rectangular scalloped top crossbanded and inlaid with burr panel framing foliate marquetry floral medallion, with compartmentalised frieze drawer, supported on slender tapering cabriole legs. (24in x 18in x 28.5in) : £300-500 (Furniture - Tables)
442A nineteenth century oak side table. (27in x 13in x 24.75in) - This has a rectangular moulded top above a reeded frieze drawer mounted with a brass drop handle. It is raised on turned tapering column legs that have been reduced. It is a good garnet colour. The handle is a replacement and it is oak lined. It could possibly have been a washstand at some stage in its life, as it is drilled to the side as if it might have had a towel rail. : £20-30 (Furniture - Tables)
456A Georgian mahogany pembroke table. (33.75in x 21.5in x 28.75in closed). - An early nineteenth century table - a bit dry in colour. It is on square tapering legs with square brass cappings and pad castors. The drawer is pine lined and mounted with old knobs which do not look to be original as there is evidence of other handles on the drawer which is framed by ebony beading. The table is substantial with two rule jointed drop flaps opening on two shaped brackets with knuckle joints. It could do with being refinished as it is scuffed and marked but generally in good clean sound condition for its age. : £250-350 (Furniture - Tables)
505A reproduction mahogany twin pedestal dining table with spare leaf. - This has been an expensive table and came out of a house in Gosforth. It is stamped underneath 1360. The column is a little bit sticky and stained but it has shiny brass cappings and casters. The tapering barrel column has a ring. There are slight veneer chips to the edge of the table. The top is a good dark colour and it isn’t crossbanded. It has a gilt and red Reprodux Devon Funnel Ltd New Haven England Made By. The locking hinges have brass cappings and brass mounts. The table stop is also stamped to the underside 1360. : £100-150 (Furniture - Tables)
512A mahogany Empire style writing table. (27.5in x 61in x 29.5in) - This is a nice desk and impressive piece with a good leather top, trimmed edge, etc. The lion standards supporting the desk which has two opposing dummy drawers almost look French. We don’t think particularly old.A Napoleonic style writing table, with gilt tooled leather top within gadroon carved rim, with two real drawers opposing dummy drawers to frieze, having acanthus carved corners, the desk supported on twin lion caryatid columns flanking pierced foliate carved fretwork, above platforms with gadrooned rims, the supports joined by acanthus carved shaped rectangular stretcher. (27.5in x 61in x 29.5in) : £600-800 (Furniture - Tables)
517A small William IV breakfast table. (40in x 40in x 29in) - This is a circular breakfast table in its original finish, and we think on its original stand. It has a circular moulded top with a plain frieze, and is mounted on tapering eight-sided column above a moulded collar with a triangular waisted base supported on bun feet with casters. It is all in its original finish and is attractive. The correct clips have been replaced, with a new stretcher on the underneath. There are some missing veneers to the corners of the rectangular base. A good sound table. : £300-500 (Furniture - Tables)
531A nineteenth century mahogany dining table. (39.75in x 62in x 28.75in extended) - This mahogany dining table has a reeded edge with two drop leaves having rule joints. It appears to be in its original finish with cast iron hinges to the drop leaves which are supported on legs hinged on knuckle joints. The turned tapering legs have brass cappings and casters. The table looks to be all original although it has probably been refinished at some stage. Of good colour generally and a nice Victorian table. : £200-300 (Furniture - Tables)
536A nineteenth century mahogany breakfast table. (35.5in x 60in x 30.5in) - This has been restored at some stage, and has a rectangular top with rounded corners supported on a turned pedestal column with quadripartite fluted hipped legs having leaf moulded brass cappings and casters. It all looks original, though it has been repolished at some stage. The underneath of the flat top was distressed at some stage, with various marks, but it is currently clean and all original. A good solid table. : £500-700 (Furniture - Tables)
543A Georgian mahogany drop-leaf dining table. (37.5in x 39in x 27.5in extended) - A Georgian mahogany drop leaf table, the rectangular top with two rule jointed drop flaps, supported on square fluted and channelled column legs - probably the central section of a dining table. A good heavy piece of mahog furniture that would make an excellent large dining table - if married with another similar table we have in the sale! (37.5in x 39in x 27.5in extended) : £200-300 (Furniture - Tables)
585A Caribbean circular carved occasional table. (21in) - This carved table depicts a tree and bird to one side and fish and waves to the other and is inscribed Haiti. It is carved out of a single piece of wood, almost in a tribal art manner. It sits on a folding trestle stand to form a coffee table. : £30-40 (Furniture - Tables)
608A Victorian walnut breakfast table. (34.5in x 47.5in x 28.5in) - This has a quarter veneered figured top, cross-banded in burr walnut framed by boxwood and ebony stringing. It shows signs of old restoration, with the moulded edge and the frieze also strung with boxwood stringing. It has the odd patching to the veneers. It is supported on a foliate scroll carved base with four columns supporting a platform around a central turned boss, with acanthus carvings to legs, with scrolled terminals, and porcelain casters. It has a good brass catch front clip to convert into an upright table. : £300-500 (Furniture - Tables)
628A Victorian mahogany telescopic dining table. (42.5in x 71.5in x 29.25in - extended) - This is a good quality table that came out of a farmhouse near Berwick upon Tweed. It has a spare leaf with a rectangular moulded top with rounded corners. The bulbous turned tapering legs have brass cappings and pot casters. It is in its original finish, and in ‘barn fresh’ untouched condition. The telescopic mechanism has a patent movement with brass winding mechanism, complete with handle. A very good solid table. : £300-500 (Furniture - Tables)

It has a crossbanded top inlaid with boxwood stringing with two rule-jointed rounded drop flaps. It has two cock-beaded frieze drawers mounted with swan-neck brass handles. The table is on lyre supports with brass spindles above fluted splayed legs with lion paw brass cappings and casters. The supports are joined by baluster turned stretcher. Both leaves look as if they have been tipped. The colour is a good treacle brown. There is a slight mark on the central leaf and one of the leaves also has a small piece put in at the rule joint. It has good tapering barrel legs with pad feet. The hinges to the top look as if they have been changed at some stage. The gates with knuckle joints are both oak. The table is in general good order folding down to quite a narrow size. The end rails appear to be stained pine and there looks to have been some alterations when the table was restored in the nineteenth century.
