Furniture - Beds, Chairs & Stools
394A pair of brass and white painted headboards. (39.5in x 42in) - These have turned brass finials to corners with white painted rails joined by similar brass moulded spindles. They are a reproduction pair that would screw onto a pair of divan beds. : £20-30 (Furniture - Beds)
22A late Victorian upholstered wing armchair. - This wing armchair is a nice shape, with upholstered back, padded arms, sprung seat, with cushion moulded apron raised on turned bun feet with casters. It looks to be in the original upholstery. : £40-60 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
181A pair of art nouveau oak elbow chairs. (2) - These have back rails carved with stylised tendril foliage with oval panels. They have studded upholstered padded backs with shaped arms supported on barleytwist columns. They have drop-in upholstered seats in plain rails supported on barley twist column legs joined by rectangular stretchers with turned feet. They are in the original treacle brown finish and are reasonably sound. The backs of the chairs are also upholstered with studding. : £40-60 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
284A set of six oak upholstered dining chairs. (6) - A set of upholstered oak dining chairs, five singles and one carver, with later fabric covering on brass studded leather, having sprung upholstered seats raised on baluster turned legs joined by rectangular stretchers, the elbow chair with crook arms. (6) These are good solid dining chairs obviously with later covering upholstery. They have square padded backs upholstered above shaped aprons with stuff over upholstered seats on baluster turned legs joined by rectangular stretchers. The colour of the oak is good and I would suggest that they are circa 1900. They have sprung seats and webbing. They include a nice carver with crook shaped arms of excellent worn colour. The upholstery is not to everyone’s taste. The stretchers are scuffed and worn as one would expect but structurally sound. Obviously these were leather upholstered previously as one can see from underneath and the current upholstery just covers the leather so presumably the leather is torn which is why they were recovered in this red material. The brass studding has been left and the gimp is on the inside of the lines of brass studding. So presumably some of the leather could be intact but we haven’t pealed all the bits off. : £100-150 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
288A set of four late Victorian dining chairs. (4) - These have shell carved backs above bobbin turned spindles with reeded rails and stiles. They have sprung upholstered seats raised on turned legs. The seats all need re-upholstering, but the chairs are basically sound. : £40-60 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
311A set of four reproduction pine kitchen chairs. (4) - These have arched top rails above splats cut with a V flanked by slats. They have wide planked seats scraped out above plain rails supported on turned legs joined by rectangular stretchers - possibly Swedish. They are reasonably sound although wobbly. : £40-60 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
343A pair of late Victorian upholstered side chairs. (2) - These are upholstered in brocade with padded backs and seats supported on baluster turned legs joined by rectangular stretchers. Good quality oak chairs, with slightly tired upholstery. : £40-60 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
344A set of four Victorian walnut dining chairs. (4) - A set of four late Victorian walnut dining chairs, with foliate carved backs having splats carved with roundels above stuffover upholstered seats, raised on fluted turned tapering legs. (4) : £300-500 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
381A set of five art nouveau mahogany dining chairs. (5) - A set of five art nouveau mahogany dining chairs, with scroll carved splats flanked by rectangular spindles in arched panels, having drop-in upholstered seats on square tapering legs with spade feet, the carver with down swept arms supported on square moulded columns. (5) : £100-200 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
404A Victorian carved oak hall chair. - This chair has a leaf carved back with pierced splat flanked by channelled uprights with barley twist columns to the sides surmounted by turned finials. The seat has a leaf carved central medallion panel with arched carved edge. It is raised on bobbin turned legs joined by barley twist stretchers with blocks, and it is on turned feet. It is a bit wobbly, but would re-glue and strengthen up. : £40-60 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
427A pair of nineteenth century walnut masonic armchairs. (2) - A pair of nineteenth century walnut masonic armchairs, with arched upholstered backs flanked by square columns, with square carved terminals to arms having elbow pads, above sprung upholstered seats on panelled rails raised on turned and lappet carved legs with brass cappings and casters. (2) These chairs came from a Masonic hall which is why we have catalogued them as such. They are distressed - as the hall had been used as a youth club for some time. They are heavy with square columns. The finials are missing from the backs. Upholstery is tired. The carvings to the arms are bold and good. The turned legs are lappet carved and have the original brass cappings and casters. One of the chairs has an applied carving of a book on the arch to the back. It reads “The Law was Given by oses but Grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ.” The other bits of carving are missing. Suggest chairs are circa 1870. : £300-500 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
432A set of four late Victorian ‘aesthetic’ walnut upholstered dining chairs. (4) - These are good quality chairs, with rounded padded backs inlaid with boxwood and ebony stringing and rectangular finials. The padded backs are supported on three spindles. They have padded stuff-over upholstered seats and the bow fronted rails are also inlaid with satinwood banding. The top of the legs are inlaid with flowerhead medallions. They are supported on ring turned tapering legs. The seat rails are impressed with the number B2935, but there is no makers name apparent. They are good quality walnut dining chairs. : £100-150 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
449A set of six late nineteenth century carved walnut dining chairs. (6) - A set of six late nineteenth century carved walnut dining chairs, the backs with floral panels above pierced splats with acanthus leaf scrolled carved decoration framed by reeded rails and stiles, the sprung stuff-over green velvet upholstered seats supported on ring turned tapering legs. (6) They are sound and a bit scuffed with fine carvings. They have been re-upholstered and are in good condition ready to sit on. A good clean set of chairs that came from a private house in Corbridge. : £400-600 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
461A set of five Victorian balloon backed dining chairs. (5) - These balloon backs are of traditional design and are strong chairs although they need the drop-in upholstered seats re-doing. They have cushion moulded front rails supported on vase turned legs. Generally sound solid chairs with original blocks in the corners. The back legs are sabre-like. : £150-250 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
497A Victorian mahogany rise and fall piano stool. - This has a circular padded cut moquette seat, revolving on a fluted balustered turning mechanism which appears to have lost its nut and is not actually working. It’s raised on three scroll carved feet. The stool is in it’s orginal finish and untouched and unadulterated. : £80-120 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
538A pair of Edwardian mahogany side chairs. (2) - These chairs have rectangular backs, chisel carved top rails with interlaced splats supported on slender spindles. They have stuff-over upholstered seats on square tapering legs with spade feet. They are sound, but need restoration. One of the chair backs has been broken at some stage and reglued. : £30-40 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
558A pair of Edwardian mahogany bedroom chairs. (2) - These have cane seats and are in reasonable good condition. They are inlaid with boxwood and ebony stringing to the back rails with satinwood banding. Thay are supported on square tapering legs joined by rectangular and turned stretchers. : £20-30 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
581A set of eight Regency style dining chairs. (8) - This long set of chairs are in quite a distressed condition. They all have delicately turned spindle backs, drop-in upholstered seats and plain rails, supported on ring turned tapering legs. The two carvers have down swept arms. They are all a bit rickety and require refinishing and repolishing, and the drop-in seats are currently covered in a floral pink cotton material. The six singles are darker stained compared to the two carvers which are lighter brown. They all need refinishing and one or two structural repairs, but they are circa 1900. : £400-600 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
777A set of three carved walnut dining chairs; and another associated. (4) - A set of three carved walnut dining chairs, with leaf carved panelled backs above scroll carved joining rails framed by reeded stiles, having original upholstered seats raised on turned tapering legs; together with an associated walnut chair with similar carved back rail above gallery spindles. (4) The three chairs are original and barn fresh, some of the joints are loose and there is evidence of worm. One chair needs re-upholstering as the upholstery is tatty, the other two chairs appear to be sound. The fourth chair that makes up the marriage set is different but sound with a later cotton covering to the original upholstery. The set of three are all a little bit wobbly but they have nice carpet upholstery seats. They obviously need restoration. They are scuffed and generally worn but haven’t been done up. They are all creaking. The married one is in fact the strongest of the lot and that has a later seat covering over the stuffover seat. It has spindles in the back. A reasonable set. : £30-40 (Furniture - Chairs, Stools)
784A pair of eighteenth century Hepplewhite style mahogany armchairs. (2) - A pair of eighteenth century Hepplewhite style mahogany armchairs, the moulded backs supported by scroll carved down-swept arms, having upholstered seats raised on square tapering column legs with block feet.
