Clocks
42An Edwardian mahogany mantel clock. (16in) - An Edwardian mahogany mantel clock, the domed case above a circular enamelled glazed dial with arabic chapters, the body with boxwood strung decoration and recessed side columns, raised on moulded plinth with brass ball feet, the French movement striking on gong. A good quality clock that at first glance looks like an eighteenth century bracket clock. (16in) : £150-250 (Clocks)
124A large early nineteenth century mahogany longcase clock. (99.5in) - Thhis mahogany longcase clock has hood with pagoda top surmounted by sphere and spire brass finials, having swan neck pediment with applied brass roundels, the arched dial with moonphase alternating between pastoral landscape and marine scene, above a circular enamelled dial by Thomas Lees of Bury, with Roman chapters and spandrels painted with bucolic beauties, the hood flanked by fluted pilasters, the trunk with gothic shaped door flanked by further fluted columns, the moulded base with canted corners supported on ogee bracket feet. It has quite a wide body, : £1500-2000 (Clocks)
236A nineteenth century Sienna marble mantel clock. (14.75in x 7.25in x 20.25in) - A nineteenth century Sienna marble mantel clock, with art nouveau green patinated figurine of a young draped lady playing a harp, having circular enamelled dial with brass bezel under bevelled glass, the clock case surmounted by book and wreath decorative ornament, the plinth with applied scrolled ormolu mounts supported on pierced scrolled feet. (14.75in x 7.25in x 20.25in) : £300-500 (Clocks)
392An oak cased architectural style mantel clock. (12in) - This has an enamel dial with brass bezel, under bevelled glass. The case is of oak with ring turn column corners, with applied brass decoration. It has a pagoda style top with a pitched roof surmounted by turned finial, with further brass finials above the moulded cornice. The base has quarter round bobbin beading raised on bracket feet. It appears to have a foreign movement, and used to strike on a bell, but the bell is missing. It appears to be working. : £100-150 (Clocks)
475An oak cased 1930s arched top wallclock. (27in) - This has a moulded arched top with applied carvings above three bevelled glass panes. It has a silvered dial under convex glass and it has a brass pendulum. Very much a “barn fresh” clock. : £20-30 (Clocks)
529A nineteenth century oak longcase clock by Smallwood of Sandbach. (82in) - A nineteenth century oak cased longcase clock, with moulded ogee cornice above a blind fretwork frieze, with square door enclosing a brass dial with roman chapters by Smallwood of Sandbach, the hood with corner columns above a trunk having walnut crossbanded door supported on a base with similar panelled front above ogee bracket feet. (82in) This clock came from a deceased estate. The case looks original although it is not in particularly good condition. The door is crossbanded and of good figure with the original escutcheon but lacks the internal lock. The hinges look original. The base also has a raised crossbanded panel and the ogee bracket feet are nicely carved. The moulding supporting the hood has a missing piece along one side and the hood itself is a little distressed. One of the rectangular side windows has broken glass, and the pillars are scuffed. The door looks as if it has had glass replaced with mahogany moulding put in to frame the new glass. One of the glass panels to one side is an old piece of glass but it is also cracked. Beneath the cornice of the hood is a blind fretwork panel which appears to have been drilled with circular holes in certain areas. The movement of the lock is lacking its hands. The brass dial has an applied roman chapter ring, and applied pierced spandrels. The inner face has a circular date aperture and scrolled engraving. The chapter ring is clearly marked Smallwood Sandbach. It is a twin chain movement but some of the cog wheels appear to be loose and I would suggest that it requires complete restoration. It appears to me as if the movement is contemporary with the case but it possibly could be a marriage in that the movement is loose and not attached to a board. It fits the hood quite well. But the later mahogany moulding to the glass door is misleading fit wise? The pendulum is brass. The lead weight is brass coloured and also bent. : £800-1200 (Clocks)
540An oak cased wallclock with leaded bevelled glass door. (30in) - This is a deco clock with silvered dial under glass in an oak case. It is very much “barn fresh”, but it does have pendulum and is striking on gongs. : £30-40 (Clocks)
738A Regency rosewood mantel clock. (20.5in) - A Regency rosewood mantel clock surmounted by turned urn finial, with octagonal case and fretwork panel inlaid with foliate brass decoration, the enamelled dial with roman chapters lacking movement, the rectangular plinth base further decorated with brass inlaid panels of horses and flags, supported on turned feet. (20.5in) : £150-250 (Clocks)
977A nineteenth century boulle & red tortoiseshell French mantel clock. (14.5in) - This clock is surmounted by brass fruit gilded finial above a caddy top and waisted case with ebonised sides. The front is overall decorated with boulle scrolling on a red tortoiseshell ground. It is supported on gilt metal scrolled feet with further gilt metal foliate scrolled mounts to the edge of the case centreing on a female mask. The movement is under bevelled glass with bead moulded rim. The brass dial has English chapters with a pierced central boss roundel beneath the hands framing the two winding holes. It comes complete with brass adjustable pendulum impressed with number 7610. The movement is stamped with the same number, with an added 46 on the end. The back plate also has a circular French makers mark that reads Japy Freres and Co. Med D’Honneur around a star cypher beneath a crown. It strikes on a gong, and was working in the vendors house when we removed it. Condition wise, there is some loss to the boulle, but apart from that it is in original ‘barn fresh’ condition with slight wear to the dial numbers. : £150-250 (Clocks)
59An oak Victorian wall clock. - : £100-150 (Clocks & Watches)
