Ceramics (2)
305A pair of Sitzendorf polychrome comports. (2) (12.75in) - This pair is in good condition and consists of quatrefoil shaped bowls moulded in rococo design with pierced holes to rims encrusted with flowers. The interiors are transfer printed with coloured floral sprigs and the bowls are decorated with gilding to the scrolling with floral basket weave cartouche panels. The floral encrustations have minor losses, but they are generally intact. They are supported on similar rococo trunks with scrolled bases, each mounted with two gambolling putti. These two cherubs are finely painted, the bases have applied fine floral encrustations. The cherubs don’t appear to be damaged in any way, except for some losses to the fingers. They are supported on four feet. The undersides are impressed with number 45 and transfer printed with the Sitzendorf blue marks and crowns. : £200-300 (Ceramics)
313Miscellaneous Gaudy Welsh ceramics. (8) - There is a Gaudy Welsh cup and saucer of floral design, with two spare saucers. There is another Gaudy Welsh cup and saucer decorated with orange panels in the traditional palette. There is a single Gaudy Welsh saucer, and a tankard decorated with scalloped figurative Eastern panels with figures on blue ground. All the pieces are perfect. : £40-60 (Ceramics)
316A large Troika biscuit fired wheel vase. (8.75in) - : £40-60 (Ceramics)
317A boxed childs nursery teaset. - This is in its original box with Gollywogs having a tea party. It reads ‘Nursery Teaware, Made in England’ to the lid. The box is quite distressed and the set consists of three cups, three saucers, teapot and cover, sucrier, cream jug and three teaspoons. All are transfer printed with various nursery rhymes. They are all in unused mint condtition. : £40-60 (Ceramics)
357A large nineteenth century stoneware barrel. (18.75in) - This salt-glazed barrel does not appear to be marked apart from impressed number 6. It is mock barrel shape, as if made out of wood with planks and slats. Above the taphole there is a banner for decoration, but it isn’t marked with anything. The glazing is good and there are no chips. All in perfect condition. : £40-60 (Ceramics)
434A Newcastle Pottery eighteenth century creamware plate, made for the European market; and a similarly transfer printed leaf moulded plate. (2) - The creamware plate is 6.75in diameter with the back clearly struck with rectangular Newcastle mark, and impressed number 9. It is in perfect condition apart from kiln/firing imperfections. It is decorated with a mill scene titled ‘Der Saer’. The black transfer print is hand-painted in colours with green, blue, yellow and brown glazes. Beneath the mill scene reads ‘Geschenck der Freundschaft’. The border is hand-painted with alternating green and brick red floral designs with similar orange line to rim. The smaller plate is 6.5in diameter and it is not marked apart from a painted monogram on the back. It is also in perfect condition apart from firing imperfections. It has a foliate relief moulded rim with scrolling decorated in polychrome enamels with brown scalloped rim. The face of the plate is transfer printed with a very similar mill scene. Above the building is the title ‘Die Muhle’, below the mill scene is the title ‘Fin Geschenk Fur Meinen Sohn.’ There is very slight scratching to the surface of the transfer. We presume both these pieces were made for the export market. : £100-150 (Ceramics)
457A large eighteenth century porcelain coffee pot and cover. (11.75in) (2) - This pot has pear shaped body, fluted spout and scrolled handle, the domed cover with pointed finial, decorated with blue flowers and leaves framed by diaper borders - repairs. : £100-150 (Ceramics)
697A nineteenth century Wedgwood-style Jasperware blue and white cheese dish and cover. (2) - About 10 in high with an acorn handle above an oak leaf frieze, the top is pierced and has anthemon applied decoration and the side of the cover is decorated with classical sprigwork above a further oak leaf band and the base also has an oak leaf band applied on the blue rim, the only mark we can see is an impressed number four, it is dirty and discoloured and could do with a good wash, there are what looks to be kiln imperfections around the acorn finial possibly a small hairline? There are pierced holes in the lid to allow ventilation and either the firing imperfection or the hairline is around that area at the bottom of the acorn finial, where it holds the lid, overall it seems structurally very sound. : £80-120 (Ceramics)
699A fine European Capo di Monte style porcelain group. (7.5ins) - This is finely made wth relief moulded pink plinth framed by gilding. It is also finely decorated with a boy and girl having floral decoration to their breeks and dress. She is sat on a goat and he is standing behind her playing a flute. The goat has a garland of vines round his neck. The only apparent damage is that she has lost her left arm and one of the goats horns appears to be missing. Otherwise it is all perfect. Also the odd leaf is missing on the basket of vines that he is seated on. A very fine quality piece. Blue star mark (or sword) underneath and an old label numbered 1486 in pen. : £80-120 (Ceramics)
743A pair of Chelsea style porcelain figurines. (8.25in) (2) - These we suspect are Samson. The lady is wearing a green dress and painted with floral polychrome enamels, holding a harewith one hand, with a basket encrusted wth flowers. She is standing on a scrolled rococo style plinth decorated with gilding. The back has a gilt anchor mark. He is also holding a bird upside down, wearing green breeks and coat with floral and gilt decoration standing on similar plinth, with gilt anchor mark to the back. There is some damage to the encrustations and the flowers, and his hand has been broken and reglued at some stage. A nice quality pair. : £100-150 (Ceramics)
766A pair of continental porcelain relief moulded classical vases. (2) (8.5in) - These are of ovoid form, with bodies moulded in relief depicting continuous classical scenes with landscapes and figures hand-painted in polychrome, bordered by gilt scrolled pelmets. The landscapes don’t appear to be signed, but depict ladies about their toilet in tree landscape with classical buildings. The shoulders of the vases are further embossed with foliate scrolling and are hand-painted in polychrome and gilding, with further gilt decoration to rims. Beneath the friezes, the bases of the vases have a further border of scrolling with masks and scrolled cartouche panels. The foot of both vases has a leaf moulded band with alternating green and brick red decoration on a yellow ground. The bases are indented and one of them is impressed with numbers. Both appear to be perfect, with minor rubbing to the gilding on the neck. Although moulded as a pair, they do have different decoration. : £150-250 (Ceramics)
