Bronze
173A pair of nineteenth century French spelter figurines by Bouret. (18in) (2) - These are ‘bronzed’ in colour. One depicts a lady standing beside a harp, the harp being on a plinth. It is cast with the name Bouret. The lady is standing in flowing robes on a circular plinth mounted onto an ebonised socle. The other lady is musing with a book beside her cloth covered table and is also after Bouret, mounted on a similar ebonised plinth. She is standing looking at her book in similar flowing robes. : £100-150 (Bronze)
201A Victorian gilt bronze, Hercules. (18.5in) - This has been completely gilded and has later varnish, so is not in the best of condition. the shoulder looks as if it has a crack, as does the leg. There are no casters or foundry marks evident. Some of the later gilded decoration to the body is flaking. : £500-700 (Bronze)
308Bronze, a pair of Chinese monkeys. (6in) (2) - These bronze monkeys have verdigris patination and are on plinths cast with four Chinese character marks. One is holding a gourd shaped vessel, with further character marks to the body, and is seated on a rock. The other is holding a tub shaped vessel to his back and is again cast with four character marks in front of him. They look like figures from the Planet of the Apes! : £80-120 (Bronze)
471Bronze, study of a jaguar. (8in) - This bronze has green verdigris patination to animal. The animal is modelled hunting, leaning forward with curled tail and open mouth. : £70-90 (Bronze)
606A Japanese bronze ‘damascand inlaid’ candlestick. (14in) - This is an unusual candlestick, modelled as a bird holding a branch in its beak standing on a lily leaf. It is inlay decorated in a neillo style. The branch is a typical lotus style branch, with a small candle holder above and six petals below. There is slight play to the branch. Between the legs of the bird is a protruding stalk with flower that may have had something else on the end of the stalk. A most unusual piece of excellent quality and colour to the bronze. : £50-80 (Bronze)
