Barometers
199A Victorian rosewood barometer by W Tritschler & Co of Carlisle. (37.5in) - This barometer has been restored relatively recently. It has a shaped rosewood frame with a later swan-neck pediment flaking a turned brass finial. The thermometer dial look as if it has been replaced, and the whole case has been stickily varnished. The silvered large circular dial is under glass with a brass bezel, and has an image of what looks like the Great Exhibition buildings to the centre. The circular bottom levelling dial has the makers name. The end has applied quarter round bead decoration. A decorative barometer. : £200-300 (Barometers)
223Twenty seven glass barometer tubes; together with a quantity of mercury. (A lot) - The majority of these are filled with mercury and are intact. There are only four that appear to be broken. They come complete with three new 500ml packs of mercury and a filling tube with syringe and pump, etc. A good mixed lot ready for a barometer restorer. : £100-150 (Barometers)
291A Victorian rosewood banjo barometer. (38in) - This rosewood cased barometer has a swan neck pediment flanking a brass finial. The trunk has an arched thermometer dial under glass beneath a dry/damp circular measure under convex glass with brass bezel. The main barometer dial is silvered and in reasonable condition, but with no apparent makers name. Below that is an adjusting knob, and the rounded circular base has a dial under brass bezel with the makers name of J Croce, York. The rosewood is of good colour and appears to be in good condition. It has an antique dealer’s label from Scarborough to the verso. The mercury tube appears to be intact. : £150-250 (Barometers)
