'Have gav
el, will travel'

Jim Railton has been in the antiques trade for over 20 years, based in Northumberland from where he carries out valuations throughout the UK for insurance, probate and for sale.

His career has ranged from shipping containers of antiques to the United States, to dismantling buildings to be sold and erected elsewhere. He was appointed regional valuer for Phillips International Fine Art Auctioneers in the early 90's and set up their saleroom in Newcastle in 1993. He has been an independent auctioneer and fine art valuer for the last seven years.

His difference and 'edge' as an auctioneer is that he is not tied to a single building. His auctions are held in what have now become established venues such as Chillingham Castle in Northumberland, Newcastle Racecourse, Springwood Park in Kelso and Brancepeth Castle in Durham, but basically, anywhere that is big enough to hold a sale can be used. He has a tearoom open, a bar open all day, and he makes the sales as entertaining as possible for the audience.

Please contact our auction office by email or telephone 01668 215323 for proposed future auction event details.
